Richard Stevens joins us from New Hope Camp to talk about summer programs.
Potpourri Day-Camp — Rising K-6th Graders ($205)
We call this camp ‘Potpourri’ because campers get to experience a variety of activities throughout their day and week at camp. A camper’s day begins and ends with all-camp activities that include energizers, songs and free-play. During the day, campers rotate between bible study, arts & crafts, science & nature, swimming and recreation. Campers (K-6) receive swim lessons 4 days a week in addition to free-swim time for practice and play. Our day-campers will enjoy many activities such as: singing songs, tie-dying t-shirts, making friendship bracelets and hiking the camp’s trails. All our campers receive lunch and 2 snacks as part of our program. Every Friday campers will participate in all-camper events and devotion. Potpourri is a great choice for a well-rounded summer camp experience.
Overnight Camp — Eagles (rising 5th-6th graders) ($350)
Eagle campers can enjoy a week away from home at one of our overnight sessions! During Overnight Camp, campers will participate in normal Day- Camp sessions, but after the Potpourri campers leave, Eagles will participate in evening games, cook over the campfire (complete with S’mores!), sleep in cabins, and even spend one evening sleeping under the stars. These campers will fully enjoy the benefits gained spending a week in Christian community with their peers. Evening vespers, songs and devotions around the campfire are a part of each evening. This quiet time strengthens our campers’ faith and creates memorable camp experiences for campers and staff alike. When campers fully engage in the camp environment and daily distractions are removed, new friendships are built, new ideas are explored and campers emerge with a stronger sense of self.
Music, Art, Drama and Dance Overnight Camp — Eagles (rising 5th-6th graders) ($365)
This year we are adding MADD camp. Campers can enjoy an arts adventure in our beautiful camp setting. This week of resident camp is an opportunity for young people to improve skills and experience the thrill of music, art, dance, and drama, as well as other great camp activities. Campers will be submerged in Theatre, Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, and Clogging, along with extra Arts classes ranging from mask making to painting and sculpture. Led by our guest Program Leader, Nancy Rivenbark, an award winning dance instructor, campers will be given a chance to stretch their minds and bodies throughout the week. Our overnight activities will also include a talent night, so bring that special talent to be shared with all. All of the courses will be divided according to experience. We will have classes for campers who are just beginning, those who are still learning, and those who have been involved in the arts for some time. We hope that you will come and enjoy camp with us whatever your prior arts experience is. We also hope that everyone can learn something new during our adventure into the arts!
Summer camp at New Hope Camp and Conference Center is a good time for campers and adults to become more aware of God’s world and their part in protecting and caring for it. As we live together and learn together, we will be exploring our relationships with the earth and with each other. Campers will gain a better understanding of respect as they share, grow and learn with one another. Building a community where everyone belongs and is treated as a child of God will be an important part of each week at New Hope Camp and Conference Center. Join us this summer for an unforgettable time of learning and playing together.
Because of our location, we are able to offer programs for day camp drawing upon community resources for sports, art, music, and natural or environmental sciences. We are able to provide ideal camping programs for first time and young participants as well as exciting specialty programs for older, more experienced campers.
The Staff
The entire staff recognizes our responsibility when you choose New Hope Camp and Conference Center for your child’s summer activity. Our summer staff is typically comprised of college students or graduates from area universities. Appropriate role models and a desire to lead young people are two factors we seek in applicants. All applicants go through an extensive screening process, including interviews, to help us assemble a quality, well-rounded summer staff. All counselors, program and support staff are trained in first aid and CPR to provide your child with a fun and safe summer.
Camper Behavior Expectations
Campers are expected to participate cooperatively with their counselors and other campers in the daily activities and duties of the group. Campers are expected to respect each other, staff members, camp, and personal property. Attending camp is a privilege made possible by parents, churches and organizations that want to share God’s love with young people.
